Zoom Interview Do’s and Don’ts

Stacy Wunderly Sales Operations Exec with The AGA Group

It’s important to remember that employers view these virtual interviews just as seriously as in-person interviews. That’s why it’s crucial to be prepared and treat this interview as if it were a face-to-face meeting with the employer. If you feel that you need more time to prepare for this interview please let us know and we will reschedule for another time.

Dress For Success

To ace your Zoom interview, start by dressing the part. Dressing professionally shows that you are taking the interview seriously and are committed to putting your best foot forward. Additionally, make sure you have a quiet and well-lit space for the interview. This will help you stay focused and ensure that the employer can see and hear you clearly.

Do Your Homework

Nothing disqualifies you faster than not knowing anything about the company you are interviewing with. So, the next tip is to be prepared. Research the company and the role you are applying for beforehand. This will help you answer questions more confidently and show the employer that you are genuinely interested in the position. And don’t forget to test your technology ahead of time to avoid any last-minute technical difficulties.

Questions To Review

I also like to provide my candidates questions to review in preparation of the recorded interview. I like to provide questions supplied by my clients to the candidate in advance. My comments to the candidate is that our clients would like to see how you answer the following questions. This allows the client to have a part in the interview process and many times eliminates the need to send the candidate in for a face to face interview. So, I encourage my candidates to view this zoom interview just as if it was a face to face interview. Depending on the job the questions can get more technical.

Questions:
  1. Tell me about yourself
  2. What puts you in the job market?
  3. What do you know about Acme Industries?
  4. What job duties are you presently doing that match up with what our client is looking for?
  5. What are some of your greatest professional accomplishments?

Remember, the Zoom interview is your chance to make a great first impression. By following these essential tips, you can show potential employers that you are a serious candidate who is committed to success. Good luck
